Mr Michalis Kyriakides, Head of the Corporate Practice of Harris Kyriakides LLC, has featured as a speaker in the conference LARNAKA 21 - EMBRACING THE FUTURE. The conference was held at “Ktima Makenzy” in Larnaca and was organised by the Municipality of Larnaka, the Larnaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Larnaka Tourism Βoard. Bank of Cyprus was the main sponsor of the conference. In the course of the conference, Mr Kyriakides addressed the audience on issues related to the repositioning of Larnaka as an International Business Centre. Esteemed Cypriot and foreign speakers have presented the major projects that have or will change the face of Larnaka, including the new airport, the redevelopment of the port and marina and sporting facilities. There were also talks on Larnaka’s prospects as ‘the eastern European gateway’ – how the projects will impact on Larnaka’s image, what they will offer to tourists and the economic perspective. Parallel to the Larnaka 21 conference, the LCCPP Forum III has also taken place and featured expert foreign speakers who covered Larnaka’s past. Topics included various significant archaeological sites such as the Bamboula Ancient Harbour of Kition and the ancient Phoenician ports, pottery of the Phoenician era, and cultural aspects such as cruise tourism and the impact of tourism on the city.
